Outage in the metrics ingest endpoint on us-central1 cluster

There was a short outage in the metrics ingest endpoint from 02:47 - 02:51 UTC. It has been caused by a sudden unexpected increase in ingest volume, which filled up multiple Kafka nodes where this data temporarily gets written to. The incident has been dealt with and everything should be back to normal.
